The Wolfpack Plan

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 2025 Bond Referendum

Safe, Strong, and Sustainable Schools

A plan to responsibly maintain Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Schools

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Schools have worked hard to care for our facilities and provide safe, supportive learning environments. But many parts of our buildings are aging and worn out — and they need updates to stay safe, efficient, and ready for learning.

On Tuesday, November 4, WHA residents will vote on a two-question bond referendum to address these needs. The plan would improve safety, accessibility, and infrastructure, while being fiscally responsible.

What’s on the Ballot

Why It Matters

Some parts of our buildings are long past their expected lifespan:

  • A steam heating system with leaking pipes and outdated controls

  • Electrical and fire alarm systems that no longer meet current standards

  • Roofs, flooring, and walls that are 20+ years old and showing signs of failure

  • Restrooms and door hardware that limit privacy, safety, and accessibility

  • A cramped, outdated bus garage with no space for maintenance or driver support

  • Limited parking that causes problems during winter and big events

These are major, necessary repairs that our annual budget cannot cover. Delaying them only raises future costs, and risks pulling funding away from students and classrooms.
